BREAKING NEWS
May 30, 2004
Missouri Supreme Court
Attention: Chief Justice Ronnie L. White
Dear Honorable Justice White:
Concerning the Gay Marriage Ban and Nixon v. Blunt: it seems clear Governor Bob Holden and Secretary of State Matt Blunt are both using this as publicity stunts i.e. name recognition and to try and activate their bases either in the August or November elections.
There are other candidates for Governor. It is requested the Court Reprimand Governor Holden and Secretary of State Blunt for their actions. I would trust the Court knows the gravity and sacredness of election issues and elections and will interpret the law properly.

Attention: Thomas A. Bookstaver President/Publisher at 417-836-1103
Attention: Robert Leger
Dear Mr. Bookstaver and Mr. Leger:
Citizens Supporting McCaskill for Governor is a grass roots group working to draw more people into the political process. Though we would like to see more people join in the effort to elect Claire McCaskill Governor---our main purpose in the debate challenge is to get more involvement in the statewide political process as a whole---not for any certain candidate. We have statewide membership with an emphasis in the southwest Missouri area.
This letter is to serve as a challenge and request that the local media work together to have a public debate so the public can make an informed decision and decide their future leader of Missouri.
We propose that Robert Leger, a longtime Southwest Missouri media person, be in charge of working with all of the local media who will want to participate. In the past KY3 and KOLR and occasionally the PBS affiliate has hosted debates like this.
We have invaded a country on the premise of spreading democracy to the Middle East. This seems to make the issue of allowing citizens the chance to decide their futures and leadership even more important than would otherwise seem. We believe it is time to have an informed populace so we can spread Democracy in the USA Midwest. We have seen no group put forth the idea of a debate between the primary candidates running for the number #1 spot in Missouri.
Just as we feel it would be beneficial to allow all media to participate in the debate planning and implication we all feel that all candidates who are legally filed to run should have a chance to participate. We want to suggest a panel forum debate where candidates from all parties would be allowed to answer questions asked by moderators.
The Democratic and Republican Debates could be held together or at separate times, maybe even the same day.
We are asking the local media which includes but is not limited to KTTS Radio, KWTO Talk Radio, KOLR-10, KY-3, the Springfield News-Leader, KSPR, and other media groups to contact and speak with Mr. Robert Leger about interest in serving the public.
We ask that the three most notable candidates for Governor, (Honorable Matt Blunt, Honorable Bob Holden, and Honorable Claire McCaskill), to send notification in writing of their attendance in this pending debate. All other legally filed candidates will be notified in writing after it is determined that there is interest in such a public debate.
We hope this can be a successful public event and to draw attention to the public issues. Since the future and destiny of over a half million people in Southwest Missouri and over 5 million people state wide residents hangs in the balance.
Sincerely,
Steven L. Reed

Speech at School Board Meeting.
Vote how you want on the Springfield School Bond Issue in June! AND keep in mind YOU can Change the World of Education for the better in Springfield.
Current State Auditor, Claire McCaskill, points to a recent audit: Audit Finds Per Pupil Expenditures Among Missouri School Districts Less Equitable Now Than Before Formula Was Rewritten In 1993.
From April 16, 2003 Audit No. 2003-36
A Quote from Audit:
Our audit found that expenditures per pupil data among school districts are less equitable now than before the formula was rewritten in 1993. Also, in 2002, Education Week issued its Quality Counts report. This report was based on school year 1998 funding, and graded each state on the equality of expenditures among school districts. Missouri received a grade of D+, one of 17 states to receive a grade less than a C. In Education Weeks January 2003 report, Missouris equity score dropped to a D- with only 2 other states receiving a lower score. Further, the DESE does not periodically provide relevant information regarding the equity of educational funding to the legislature. The audit recommends the DESE annually calculate, and report to the legislature, six nationally recognized measures for determining school finance equity.
Claire McCaskill has done hundreds of State Audits making recomendations of how to operate government agencies more effectively and efficiently. One recommendation for the School Systems is that they cut the amount of Administrative Cost and get more of that money down to the Teachers and Students.
Please contact us and join the campaign to create a better school system and to elect: Claire McCaskill as the first Lady Governor of Missouri! She will inspire people to create the best educational system in the nation.

Oct. 26, 2003 - In and out of the spotlight
Holden's opponent in the 2004 Democratic gubernatorial primary, Claire McCaskill, scored some political points when she earned the endorsement of former Gov. Roger Wilson. This was big news in Lebanon, where McCaskill has family ties, and overshadowed Holden's recent victories keeping plants in St. Louis and Kansas City from relocating elsewhere. Holden has since scored some endorsements of his own, including that of former Sen. Thomas Eagleton.

WOW what a week---Steven Reed founder of Citizens Supporting McCaskill for Governor says.
Last Saturday we had a booth at the state Democratic Convention from 9:00 am to 5:00pm and talked with and gave out information to hundreds of democrats. Sunday evening Reed spoke at the SMSU Student sponsored public event featuring Peter Kinder and Catherine Hannaway. We got a picture on the front of the Student paper The Standard including one of our now famous yard signs. Monday evening Reed was the only person who publicly spoke concerning the Springfield Tax Bond issue on the June ballot. The local media was crawly, thinking there was going to be all these speakers about the school band and nurse cuts if the people dont pass the issue, Reed says. Reed spoke about how Claire McCaskill wants the state funding formula to be enforced and how McCaskill recommends more money go to teachers and students rather than the administration. Yes a long term solution for education would be better than a quick fix and the school board will likely lose the election because of blackmail style tactics, Reed says. The media did not cover the group, but several people commented how good a speech was given and the Public Record shows some one from our group spoke.
Wednesday evening Reed attended and spoke at the local Democrat meeting and Thursday spoke at the local Kerry meet up at Borders. Jim Newberry is a real strong candidate for U.S. Congress against favored Roy Blunt. Hang on Roy, Reed says. Also, Jim Newberry says he cannot take sides but his wife saw McCaskill speak at a local Medical Group meeting and said she was impressed. We are going to meetings and getting our word out about our group.
A little over a year ago David A. Lieb of the Missouri Associated Press said they would not do a story and said do not contact us unless our group raises over ,000. We have got Claire Drafted, spread the word about her, and helped with name recognition, all with hard work and very little press coverage according to Reed.
Just today a young lady at a local grocery store who said she has seen our yard signs and heard about our group. She is majoring in elementary education and said she attended the Governors meeting on education last month at Ozarks Technical College and said she already knew what they talked about and it was a waste of time. She wants candidates like McCaskill who do more for the people.
SEVERAL MEMBERS FILE FOR OFFICE
Jeffrey Kenkel filed as a Democrat for Eastern Commissioner in Christian County. I will represent the people and not send out $1,000 a month to have a lobbyist in Jefferson City as the current Commissioner announce this last week according to the Springfield News-Leader. This is Conservative Christian County says Kenkel who is co-founder of Citizens Supporting McCaskill for Governor.
Marvalene Pankey of El Dorado Springs filed as the only Democrat for the open State Representative District 133 seat. Becki Cook sent me e-mail of congratulations for filing and says we will campaign some together.
Gary Wells of St. Louis was elected as a state Democrat Delegate.
WAY TO GO MEMBERS
Upcoming Events
Gary Wells will be attending Democrat Committee Meetings and Clubs this week in St. Louis.
The group is working on hiring a fundraiser and is asking citizens to give from a dollar on up. The group recently received a contribution from Bee Payne Stewart of Springfield a long time democrat. We will be doing public meetings---to get testimonials on what issues are important and why McCaskill will address them---that will run in newspapers and radio and some TV.
Booths at county fairs-public meetings to let people know about Claire---radio commercials---voter registration---billboards---etc. are just some of the Goals and Objectives of the Group. We are asking people to give from $1.00 on up and yes it cost money to run a statewide campaign according to Reed. The group may even have some car washes in the near future. They say they are not afraid of work.
We are proving a Grass Roots group can change the history of a state, we are going to November to finish the job. We are hiring staff and will set in motion events to create the largest campaign for Governor in Missouri history. according to founder Steven Reed.

Claire McCaskill is serving her second term as Missouris elected State auditor. She is responsible for audits of all state-funded institutions, state agencies and most Missouri counties.
In nearly five years she has established a proven record of cracking down on waste and fraud in government, identifying means to streamline government services, and eliminating red tape and unnecessary expenses so that Missourians are more efficiently served at less expense to taxpayers.
Claire McCaskill is an honest, inspiring, and exciting people person. She has integrity and will propose real life solutions to real life problems. She is a hard-working, respected leader who knows statewide issues. She has lived in cities and rural areas, and knows what is important to people. McCaskill is a fugal conservative who has worked to save taxpayers millions of dollars by making recommendations on how to make government operate more efficiently. She understands that we have lost too many jobs and need a new economic team to help attract and expand businesses to balance the state budget.
She sets high standards for performance and accountability, and believes that the people of Missouri deserve a government, and a Governor that does the same. Claire McCaskill believes that the time has passed for both politics as usual, and government as usual too. No more mistakes and no more excuses.
Claire McCaskill will bring accountability to our finances, provide incentives to reward schools that eliminate administrative waste, and make our tax dollarswork to help the citizens and children of Missouri again, not bureaucrats and middle managers. Missouris ability to change for the better and achieve Missouris enormous potential depends on a Governors ability to bring our state together and lead. Claire McCaskill will be a Governor who is accountable to the people of Missouri and effective at leading us in a new direction.
I am ready for a good change in our government. I am ready for things that have never been done before. It has never been done before, but Claire McCaskill first ran for state representative as a single mom and won a historical first and her whole career has been one of being the first. If you and your family want to do something good and people say you can not do that call Claire and she will tell you can. Her experience will inspire the people of Missouri to develop the best Economic system in the world, hopefully one that includes technology parks and jobs. She will also inspire people to create the best educational and road system in the nation.
Please join the campaign to elect Claire McCaskill as the first Lady Governor of Missouri..
Sincerely, Linda Mayes of Ozark Missouri supportingmccaskill@aol.com

Oh, the streets of Rome are filled with rubble, Ancient footprints are everywhere. You can almost think that you're seein' double On a cold, dark night on the Spanish Stairs. Got to hurry on back to my hotel room, Where I've got me a date with Botticelli's niece. She promised that she'd be right there with me When I paint my masterpiece.
Oh, the hours I've spent inside the Coliseum, Dodging lions and wastin' time. Oh, those mighty kings of the jungle, I could hardly stand to see 'em, Yes, it sure has been a long, hard climb. Train wheels runnin' through the back of my memory, When I ran on the hilltop following a pack of wild geese. Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody When I paint my masterpiece.
Sailin' 'round the world in a dirty gondola. Oh, to be back in the land of Coca-Cola!
I left Rome and landed in Brussels, On a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried. Clergymen in uniform and young girls pullin' muscles, Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside. Newspapermen eating candy Had to be held down by big police. Someday, everything is gonna be diff'rent When I paint my masterpiece. BOB DYLAN
